Green thumb after all?

A couple months ago I got the idea in my head that I wanted to plant some flowers. A month after that I finally did it. But it didn't look good to start out. First the blooms shriveled up after I transplanted them. The a couple weeks later I found out I had planted the flowers too deep in the soil. I was overwatering. The vine I think would thrive without any dirt at all. The other plants didn't seem to fare so well. The gerbera daisy in the middle died. There was a pansy on the top right hand corner that seemed pretty dead. All the blooms on the two African daisies died. It didn't look good.

I replanted the flowers, taking a lot of dirt out as well as replanting them higher up. I was going to throw away the pansy and gerbera daisy right away, but decided to give them a chance. One day last week I was going to pull the gerbera daisy out and I noticed there was new growth!

There, in between the two African daisies! I had started pulling the plant out before I noticed it. I quickly put it back in the soil, but I thought it would shrivel up again like the plants did after I first planted them. Its still going though! In studying the plant, I think there may be a few other stems getting ready to pop up soon too.

They're so pretty! The bare spot on the upper right is the pansy. The small plant is still there. Its alive and looks like it may have grown a bit. I don't know if it will flower again. I might replant that in a smaller pot and put something else in its spot. The African daisies, in addition to finally blooming again, are taller than they were to start. I read online that plucking off the dead blooms encourages more blooming. I did that and it was only a few days later all these blooms sprang up!

I've found I barely need to water between the rain we've been getting and finding out that both kinds of daisies like to get a little dry in between watering. Overall, the plants are looking good! Maybe I have a green thumb after all.
