Day 3: Mall of America and home

Sunday morning we were ready to go home, but not quite yet. So we got all packed up and headed to the Mall of America. We get there around 9:30 and none of the stores were open yet! We weren't interested in shopping anyway. We wanted to ride the carousel, but you couldn't buy tickets for an individual ride. The cheapest ticket package at Nickelodeon Universe is $19! No thanks. So we just walked, which was just fine with Allie.

It was cool to walk around while the mall was still empty though! We walked through the Nickelodeon Universe and one of the roller coasters was running. Allie was fascinated!

We stopped to play at Legoland after watching the roller coasters for awhile. Allie enjoyed that, but only for a few minutes. It can be hard to keep this kid entertained sometimes!

We went up a couple floors and let Allie out of the stroller. She was fascinated by the Hello Kitty store!

Too bad the stores weren't open! We thought they'd be open at 10. They didn't open until 11!

But it was really fun letting Allie explore before the mall got really crowded. She had fun walking around the food court and pulling out the chairs.

I've been to the Mall of America twice now and only bought food! Perhaps if the stores had opened earlier, I could have bought something. Oh well, we'll just have to come back!

An interesting tidbit... we had originally thought we'd have lunch at the mall and then leave. But we were bored with the stores closed and not being able to ride the carousel. So we were going to get a Coke from McDonald's and hit the road... but McDonald's had Pepsi! That just doesn't seem right for McDonalds! But I guess all the restaurants at the mall only have Pepsi?

This was a great trip. While we had considered going on Thursday to have another day, but three days was perfect. It was only a four-hour trip, which was pretty easy. We got on the road at 11 and only stopped for lunch and got home at 4. It was nice to be home, especially for Allie. It was also nice to get home so early and have some relaxation time before it was time for bed and going back to work Monday!
