Our July 4th

We had a nice Fourth of July. This morning we went to DeForest, where Mama ran the Freedom Run 10K and Allie and Dada played on the playground. He said they mostly played on the fire engine. It was Fireman's Park, after all.

Of course Allie wore her red, white and blue today!

She stopped playing in time to see Mama run to the finish! I wrote more about my race here.

She was more preoccupied with the granola bar I had than being proud of Mama. But we still got a nice picture together.

Then it was time to get the tired baby home for a much-needed nap. After our crazy day on Sunday she really needed the sleep, but it took her a little while to give in. Here in the car she was still quite chipper, but faded not quite to sleep.

While Allie napped, Mama and Dada grilled out. Then Mama took a nap of her own. Later we went on a family walk around the neighborhood. We spent the rest of the afternoon hanging around the house watching the Brewers. Too bad they lost. We finished off with an early bedtime for Allie and some downtime for Mama and Dada. I'm ready for the long weekend to be over... hearing fireworks for the last four nights has been wearing on all of us, especially our poor Monk.
