Doug and I had a really fun, but also very busy and exhausting weekend. Luckily I felt great the whole time! It would have really stunk to have to skip any of it because of my nausea.
I had my two spring band concerts this weekend. I can't say I really loved having them both on the same weekend, but it worked out well. It is a relief though that its done and that I have a break from band for awhile.
So one of my friends came to the Saturday concert and we hung out for awhile afterward. It started snowing and the weather became quite miserable. I went grocery shopping before going home Saturday evening and was so looking forward to getting in my pajamas and just vegging for a bit. But we got a call from a good friend who lives in Chicago. He was in town for a fantasy baseball draft and wanted to have a drink. He was stalling and planning to go home that night. But the weather was so crappy we stayed out for awhile and he spent the night at our house.
It was a lot of fun, but we definitely felt old for the college scene! But it was a going out experience that might never be duplicated. The beer was cheap for the boys and the coke for me was free. When we were about to leave around 11:30 to get some food, a delivery person from a nearby pizza place had come into the bar and gave us a free box of cheesy bread! She had about four of them and was just giving them away. I'm sure it was a promotion they run and it was awesome!
So we were fed and hydrated all for super cheap. The next morning we went out to breakfast at Doug and my favorite breakfast place. By the time our friend left it was time for me to go to my second concert of the weekend. I played that and went home and FINALLY I was able to veg in front of the TV, about 16 hours late! Its OK though. I had a lot of fun.
The weekend was great because I didn't eat a saltine cracker for three days! But it was interesting timing, by later Sunday evening I started feeling the nausea again. I was working on my cross stitch and got dizzy just sitting there. As the evening went on it came and went. By the time I went to bed I was feeling decently crappy again. But this morning I've felt good again. My breakfast didn't sit too well, but despite that I feel fine right now.
I wish I could figure out what makes the nausea start and stop and what makes it better or worse. But I just can't figure it out. I guess I'll just take whatever I can get.
Today I'm spending my time relaxing and this afternoon I'm finally starting my quest to become a freelance writer and editor. I'm really optimistic about it and I hope it works out. I started thinking about it last week and I really think it can work. I joined a web site where employers post jobs and freelancers bid on them. I'm also going to look into some of the publications in the area, but probably not including the state journal. There are plenty of publications around here though.
I'm really hopeful that I can establish myself in freelancing well enough to be a stay at home mom. Or at the very least I'm hoping I can use freelancing to get by with a part time job. I start drawing unemployment this week so its a good time to start working on it.
