Playing grownup

Memorial Day weekend means Brat Fest in Madison, but we didn't get to go until Monday this year.

Monday was a bit rough but getting out of the house was just what the doctor ordered. It was really hot walking through the brat fest grounds and getting our food, but once we sat down under a shade tree to eat we cooled nicely. It was nice to relax outside. Or in Allie's case, she tried to run away. She's got the purse and car keys, what else does she need?

We did bring a few of her toys, but she was more interested in what was in the diaper bag and Mama's purse.

Yep, if Mama's purse is within reach, Allie is looking through it. Doug and I are going to get her a purse of her own, but she never likes the imitations as much as the original. We tried it with the TV remote, the phone, the car keys. This kid knows when we're trying to fool her.

Here she's getting ready for her getaway. She's getting pretty fast so Mama and Dada have to be fast to catch her!

Allie was so tired that day, but she was such a trooper. She was sick and sleeping so much, but then she was sleep deprived on Sunday. The overtiredness/overstimulation (or are they the same thing?) combined with a tummy ache on Monday and it kept Allie from sleeping during the day. We had no real naptime and a lot of crying. That wasn't fun for anyone.

After bratfest we went home and gave Allie a bath and then had dinner and playtime. By the time she was going to bed, her tummy problems were remedied. We put her down for bed and she actually slept. Much to our relief, we finally had a couple quiet hours.
